For the last three and a half months I've been teleworking full time while my group's office space has been undergoing a full renovation. We work in the sub basement of a government building, which always felt very much like the sub basement of a government building. No natural light, a team of friendly cockroaches, and other daily delights. Somehow, we convinced the powers that be to renovate our humble space. In the end, we will have a space far more fitting for a technology group. Something that says "we're younger, funner, and cutting edgier." Here's a peek at the reno:

I went into the office today to see the space and to catch back up with all of the people I've not seen for a while. We christened the new space when one of my coworkers, @Antarcticist, said "Hey, there's a new food truck nearby today!" So we decided to give it a try.

As you may have guessed from my post about Truckeroo, I'm a bit obsessed with the food trucks in D.C. I'm a vegetarian dude that pretty much eats vegetarian but occasionally eats fish, and they often have creative and enjoyable vegetarian selections. I just think of food trucks as a way to conveniently expand my culinary exploration in a rather convenient way, without breaking the bank.

The new truck we tried out today is called Rolling Ficelle. They specialize in their namesake sandwiches, the Ficelle. Ficelles are long and thin sub-like sandwiches on fresh bakery rolls, filled with various meats, veggies, and spreads. I opted for the "Kline Ficelle," a sliced dill Havarti with alfalfa sprouts and avocado, covered with a fresh dill and garlic alioli. Another co-worker, @Antarcticist, chose the "Rothko Ficelle," which is a prosciutto and provolone sandwich with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and a light herb butter sauce. We both went for the combo with chips and fresh squeezed sour cherry lemonade, perfect for a hot day.

We both enjoyed our meals, as they were a lot of food for the price and a good value overall. The ingredients were fresh and generous, and the staff was very nice. @Antarcticist will probably try something different the next time. She was a bit overwhelmed by all of the prosciutto. I would also like it if they added another one or two vegetarian options to the menu, one just isn't enough for me, but they are a new truck that probably has a little room for change. All in all, both of us will go back the next time they are in the area.

If you see the Rolling Ficelle in your neck of the woods, be sure to give them a try.
