For the very first time since we started Old Town Home back in April 2011, we missed a daily post. Well, make that two in fact. For anyone that noticed, things have been dark here since last Thursday but we think we have a pretty good explanation - we were in London for the Olympics.

Yep, you read that right. Despite our my Type A personality and my insane desire to control, plan, organize and make check lists, we've done something we've never done before. On the fly we decided to take an international trip to check out all the excitement.

It was a whirlwind experience, and unexpected flight delays put us back into DC one day later than planned. So we hope you'll be patient while we figure out what time zone we're in, sort through the hundreds of pictures, and put together a play-by-play of the action. We hope to have more to share with you tomorrow.

Does it make more sense now why I was so freaked out about discovering the leak in our guest room a few mere hours before leaving the country?

I'm so jealous! My husband and I have already decided that the next time the games are in the US, that will be our vacation destination. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Can't wait to hear all about it. I would have loved to do the same but the 10 hours from SFO was a little much. :-)

That would have been a really long flight! But it was such an amazing few days, it's worth considering for future games. More details tomorrow. :-)

I am so excited to watch you two live the life I would love to live if I didn't have kids! And if I had lots of money! And a great job! And.... Oh well. Just let me live vicariously through you. Anyway - glad you did it, and I'll be waiting for pictures and, more importantly, just HOW one goes to the Olympics on the spur of the moment! I am afraid to even go to a Virginia Tech football game without tickets in my hand.

Hahaha. Thanks Karin. I guess I should keep that in mind when I'm having a "my life is so boring" kind of day.

The ticket situation wasn't what we hoped it would be -- in fact it was a nightmare -- but we'll share the details of how we made the most of it and were still able to feel like a part of it all.
